A thing within a thing. . .

Afternoon everybody!  I've been thinking about doing this post for a long time, but have just now gotten around to doing it.  It's kind of like those "purple jellybean" stories. . .you know, where:
"It was a dark, dark night; in a dark, dark house; and in the dark, dark house; there was a dark, dark room". . . . . you get the picture.
I thought I would make something like that in my blog post, but you will have to excuse the picture quality of some of them.  Since I took these pictures so early this morning, the lighting was absolutely TERRIBLE!!!
Here it goes. . .
Pssssssssssssttttt. . . If you like the idea of doing a "Thing within a thing" blog post, try one of your own on your blog and leave me your blog address in the comments so I can check it out :)

An Eiffel Tower

Sitting on this desk. . .

This desk, sitting beside this bed

This bed, sitting in this room. . . (my room would be really nice if it had a ceiling and a real wall :)

This room sitting downstairs

These stairs sitting inside this house

This house sitting in this kind of weather

This kind of weather, settling over these misty mountains.

So, my morning. . . . misty mountains.  Inside those misty mountains sits a house in rainy, wet weather.  Inside that house is a wooden staircase.  Just down those stairs sits a tiny room with no ceiling and a fake wall.  In that tiny room without a ceiling and a fake wall, sits an old desk, and on that old desk, sits an Eiffel Tower.

This was my morning.

Falcon Sky. . .

Ok, I have literally 2 minutes to write this, but I wanted to tell you guys about the strangest thing that just happened to us.  It has been almost perfect all day long; blue skies and sunny weather.  Well, just a second ago, the mountains started to disappear, dark clouds began to form and we could see rain coming our way. . . and fast.  I looked up into the sky, and saw about 30 birds flying around in circles far away.  I didn't think much about it until more and more birds started to join.  I thought, "wow!  There must have been a massacre or something, because I have never seen sooo many buzzards flying together in my life!"
Well, pretty soon the whole sky was filled with birds and I would guess there were hundreds of them.  The crazy thing is; when they came closer, we identified them as falcons!  Not buzzards!!!!  As soon as the rain hit the house however, the falcons disappeared!  They were swarming one minute, and then they were gone!  Strange. . .
The disappointing thing is that as soon as I ran inside to get the camera, the rain started to fall.  I had just gotten the telephoto lens screwed on when Nathan shouted out that they were gone.  Sad.
Oh well, got to go.  Just thought I would share this crazy piece of information with you guys.
In Christ,
Hannah
:D

Pssssssst...... It obviously took me a bit longer to write this than just 2 minutes :)

Hike in the fog

A couple of Saturdays ago, we went up to Mount Mitchel with the Cookes to hike and Caelen somehow managed to get some shots through all of the fog.  I LOVED the ones where we were jumping off of various things on the mountain, so I decided to post :P
Psssst.....while we were there, we got the opportunity to have a great conversation with a man who did not know Christ.  I was sooo proud of Matthew and Nathan for the respectful way they asked questions and gave answers to him. :)

The fog cleared some while we were hiking. . . I <3 all of the hemlock trees up there!!!  Makes it feel so. . . mountanish :P

Saying Goodbye . . .

Saying goodbye to my "kids" yesterday was extremely hard for me.  Leah (brown), her baby Lilly (gray), and Ruso (white with spots in the background) went back to their previous owner; my old riding instructor who is the absolute best person in the world for these guys.  :) .
God has blessed me with 4 years of mini horse experience, and I must say. . . I've enjoyed every bit of it!  Though I am very sad, I'm glad that I was able to help my family out by getting rid of the extra expense of their feed and hay every month.  That is a definite +  .
********
I am dedicating this blog post to Rachel C, my cousin.  I know you will be shocked when you read this post that they are gone, but I wanted to thank you for helping me out, playing with and training them for all of these years.  We really had fun didn't we???
Thank you to the Burgin family for helping us learn how to take care of them for those first couple of years.  (we sure needed help!  :P )
Thank you Faith R for being the first to hop onto Leah's back, giving me the (much needed) courage to start riding.
And thank you Nathan and Ben (my little brothers) for being my guinea pigs in jumping, galloping and falling off of the "big, brown, brat" of a horse for me.  :D  MUCH appreciated!

My "Kids" xoxoxo

Beach Trip 2011

Yahoooooo!!!!  The most looked forward to vacation has finally arrived! Lots of sand, big waves, big breakfasts, big sunburns, big laughs, big domino tournaments, and. . . . whats that???  Oh wait!  Never mind, pack up ya'll, we're leaving. . . .
Yep, that was basically our story this year due to hurricane Irene.  This blog post is a little late, (obviously) but a week ago we had to evacuate from Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach due to that uninvited guest of a hurricane.  Thankfully, we got to spend most of the week there pretty much uninterrupted.  We left for the beach Saturday the 20th and then actually left the beach Thursday the 25th, just a few days earlier than usual.  Oh well, I'm glad we got out in time at any rate.  We had a BLAST while we were there which is apparent from the pictures :D

This was a tidal pool that gathered right in front of our beach house.  The current was so strong that it pulled Ben along like a water slide

*CUTIE PIE!!!!!*

Dad and papa making bacon for breakfast :P
Our morning walk at 6:30 am :) we are insane for all of you CRAZY late sleepers :P

We had a glow stick party on the last night there.  John Wilson is in the bow tie, Ben and Caelen in the halos, Nate in the halo with glow ring around neck, and me in the glasses :P

We always make sure to have a good time one way or another.....hurricane or not :D
